EXECUTE, My Plan for Success

Last week, I shared blog post No New Year Resolution. In that blog post, I discussed not having any new year resolutions and shared some helpful tips on how to move forward. I also shared how I, personally do not do any New Year Resolutions. However I do come up with a word and 2023’s word is EXECUTE.

I came up with the word EXECUTE after spending my year as an entrepreneur in private practice and allowing entrepreneurship, the needs of the client’s, and then the guilt of not being as available to and for my family dictate how I spent my time which resulted in me putting off things that I desired. I know, it’s typical, especially as a career driven career woman, and as a therapist who works with caregivers with similar traits, I should’ve known better. Well, now I do and because I know better, I am doing better.

As I settled on 2023’s word EXECUTE, I came to the conclusion that I simply just wanted to do the things I said I was going to do. I was going to EXECUTE the steps to accomplishing my goals and I was going to be sure to show up for me, so that I can show up full for my loved ones. There are four main categories I was to focus on EXECUTION that I will discuss more in detail below.

EXECUTION FOCUS

  • ME. As mentioned above, I want to be sure that I am showing up for myself, in ways that I say I am. This can include small ways such as grabbing a Dunkin drink in my car, going to the gym, making better eating choices, rest, hygiene and skin care, decluttering, ect. If I say I am going to do something, I’m going to EXECUTE it or I’m going to evaluate why I didn’t and make adjustments as needed.

  • FAMILY & FRIENDS. One of the motivations behind seeking full time entrepreneurship was to have more time in my schedule to spend time with family and friends. My grandmother is still living and I wanted to spend more time with her as she continues to age. My parents are also getting older and I feel like I saw them more while I was working, than I do now. I wanted flexibility in my schedule to have dinner dates with my children and regular dates with my spouse.

  • BUSINESS. Aside from offering therapy with ideal clients, I want to continue to educate and inspire individuals with hopes to normalize and destigmatize mental health, especially in black and brown communities, while also growing more income streams for myself. I would also like to coach other therapist trying to develop and grow a private practice. As a result, I would like to continue to grow Mental Wellness Clinical Counseling Blog, have time to document my entrepreneurship journey on Youtube, and grow my mental health awareness brand, Mental Essentials Apparel and Accessories.

  • SPIRITUALITY. I want to continue to grow spiritually and become closer to my higher power as well have a general knowledge of all spirituality and religion to be able to fully incorporate it into potential client’s healing journals at their request.
